RIM To Support Google Talk, Local

17Jan06

Late last week Research In Motion (RIM), the makers of the well-known Blackberry line of devices, announced that their future devices will include direct support for Google Talk, the new instant messaging system that Google recently introduced, and the Google Local map service.

The Google Talk instant messaging system is still in beta, which is the standard way that Google releases new products. A Gmail login is required to access the system. Google Local finds shops and places in your area as well as displays maps and directions, and is available now as a Java download for your mobile phone.

Google has recently inked deals with other companies such as Motorola to include support for Google services on mobile phones
