A quick laugh

This post on slashdot just cracked me up. The quote is from a discussion about a multiplication bug in Microsoft Office 2007.

A:Perhaps this is how multiplication is done in OOXML. They do leap years in dates wrong, too.

B: Oh my, it is clearly spelled on page 890 of the draft:to retain backward compatibility with MSDOS 16bit mode, the operands of any multiplication that may exceeds a 16 bit boundary must be converted to farsi and multiplied using an abacus emulator, as per sec (II)par alpha comma 2; the result may or may not appear in Windows Genuine Octal Format (a.k.a. fake octal – that is octal without the leading zero and minus 1) for added convenience of EndUser(tm).

Waiting at airports is a paine. We are trying to get on the next flight to San Francisco. Los Angeles was actually not that great. Traffic was hell. I’m going to post something more elaborate later.

Ok, we’re back in a Starbucks. Internet acces is actually not free but since I’m a Swisscom customer I can log in with my existing mobile number. Anyway, we’re in Huntington Beach (Surf City) and, well, it’s not that great. After three days in the United States we both kinda feel sick of it. There are great and extremely beautiful places but everything seems to be somehow “too-perfect” or just fake. It sometimes feels like a movie. I a’m definitely going to write more about this later. Here are the promised pictures.
UPDATE:I had to pull the pictures off the WordPress blog since bandwith seems to be a scarce thing in the US of A …:(Please refer to my Facebook for the pictures: here!

Here I am in California with my friend (and driver) Muriel. We took a flight two days ago from Zürich to New York where we had connection to San Diego. All went fine so far, except that Muriels luggage got lost by American Airlines in New York. It is generally bad for a girl to lose all her clothes and other stuff but it’s even worse when she gets to know that her bag was sent to San Juan in Puerto Rico! Well, as we found out it’s a pretty comon thing to happen here int he States. Luckily the luggage was sent back to San Diego before we left this beautiful city. Right now we’re in La Jolla for a pit stop before we get back on highway 5 to Carlsbad. I’m going to add some pictures to this post as soon as we get there.
